Background
Please note the following background information on a series of country infrastructure reports that were submitted to ESCAP in recent years:
In conjunction with the Ministerial Conference on Infrastructure and the World Infrastructure Forum-Asia 1996, which were held back to back in New Delhi from 28 to 31 October 1996, the member countries of ESCAP were invited to prepare country reports on infrastructure and tourism development to provide the opportunity to showcase priority infrastructure development projects in the respective countries and to present senior executive officers of private sector companies who were participating in both events the policy environment and procedures developed to facilitate private investment in infrastructure. Consequently, country reports for the following countries had been submitted to ESCAP prior to the Ministerial Conference and subsequently distributed to all the delegations participated in the Conference as well as the World Infrastructure Forum.
Several countries provided updates of their infrastructure country reports prior to:
- the Ministerial Conference on Infrastructure in Seoul, November 2001,
- the 62nd session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in Jakarta, April 2006,
- the Ministerial Conference on Transport in Busan, November 2006, as well as the
- the High-level Expert Group Meeting and the Ministerial Conference on Public-Private Partnerships for Infrastructure Development (Seoul, 2-5 October 2007).
The original reports submitted by governments are NOT available here, but at http://www.unescap.org/ttdw/ppp/countryinfrastructurereports.html . Information provided here will be informal updates of the originally submitted information. Please click here for a suggested outline for the reports.
